It is nearly impossible to teach old dogs new tricks. What do these companies need to do to recharge? It’s not going to be easy but I would say bring in some new blood, social media blood to shake things up a bit.

I have noticed a few companies trying to break through with the use of social media marketing and some are trying a little too hard.

Pepsi is rebranding their famous logo. I happen to know why they did this only because my friend is a marketing head at Pepsi but the reasoning behind it doesn’t make sense. My friend agrees. With this campaign they took the time to reach out to some popular bloggers to let them know they were entering the online social media scene. Pepsi obviously wants the brand to be discussed online.

I am not sure this is the best approach. I would rather see lift the cap games. Gotta love the chance to receive a free MP3 download or free soda. Tweak these campaigns and make them more social media like. If down right, online communities will be talking.
