Newton Center Fairytail House

08/30/2010

I was in Newton Center yesterday and came across this house in a neighborhood full of Victorians.  Homes ranging from $900k – $2.5m. At first sight you might be like WTF, but then as you look at it you begin to appreciate the character and the wow factor. Then it starts to grow on you. When you see Victorian homes they often have layers of old paint and they typically look worn down.  This home’s exterior is in great condition so you can tell they spent the time to get the wood siding cleaned up and refinished. Since the home is so outrageous you don’t even notice how well landscaped the yard is and it goes with the house to create incredible curb appeal.  I am thinking this home might be owned by the painter because there is a lawn sign with the painting companies name. This seemed kind of strange because the home is clearly completed. When completed paint companies usually take the sign down. I guess there’s no better way to advertise if you own this paint company. If not for the wow factor, the neat lines are clearing impressive.  There is one other home in Newton with a crazy color paint job. I think its in the Highland neighborhood off route 9.
