If there is one thing that annoys me about Boston it’s the no billboard factor. To me, the City of Boston isn’t inspiring. Yes, it’s a great looking city but its missing the lights that inspire you. When I am in NYC I dream and I think to myself. The lights and billboards inspire me to want to do great things.
The Times Square advertising market brings in around $70m per year. The One & Two Times Square buildings have 11 spaces for digi advertising. Monthly advertising rates for the 11 spaces on the these two landmarks buildings are estimated at $200,000 to $350,000 each. Also, 45th and Broadway has spots that go for upwards of $175,000 per month or more.
Boston doesn’t do this because its a “historical city.” They want to preserve the look and feel. I guess this means our big Citgo sign will continue to be our sole piece of uninspiring bling. Very few dreams are made of here.
