I like tech news but this has been a shitty year
I read a shitload of tech news. I read all the popular tech sites on a daily basis. I am mostly interested in social media. I should have a degree in it by now.
However…
This years tech news has sucked big time. I haven’t seen any real innovation since YouTube came on the scene – it was not intended to be a video sharing site when they started. The only thing publishers write about is Twitter, the most non-innovative tech play ever. Apple iPhone apps, which are cool for about 5 uses and Facebook, the king of time wasting. Don’t get me wrong, I indulge in all of this bullshit just like you, but at least I realize the fact that innovation is pretty much dead right now.
Techcrunch used to be my goto site but it has jumped the shark. I don’t blame them at all, but I think they should write about other things besides Twitter, Apple, Google and Facebook. It’s painful to read this shit over and over. If I read about one more Twitter API play I think I’m gonna puke.
If you haven’t noticed Techmeme, the best tech news site is suffering because its been a really shitty year in tech news. I hope things will change soon.
