Over the last couple of years I have been on a mission to rid all spam from my email inbox. Gmail works pretty well but the key is to view the email and look at the bottom and find that REMOVE ME link from the email. I believe this has to do with the Can Spam Act established years ago to make email senders comply with the rules of bulk emailing. Things are improving.
Obviously, spammers use hotmail, yahoo and other free web based email programs to spam, but if you really want to fight the fight start by reading the footer all all spam emails and Opt Out if you can. You will notice less and less spam overtime. Spam will most likely never stop but you can reduce the amount of crap that hits your inbox if you follow these steps.
