When you are a musician the highest form of flattery is when another artist covers your song. In some cases the covered song becomes the better known one. For example, All Along the Watch Tower was originally written and recorded by singer-songwriter Bob Dylan but as soon as Jimi Hendrix covered the song it was no longer Dylan’s. Even Dylan told Jimi it was his song now, which is pretty bad-ass.
Coldplay has a song called Yellow. I am not a big fan Coldplay, but Yellow is a pretty good tune, but when covered by Jem, the song comes alive. This is by no means a legendary song like All Along the Watch Tower, but nonetheless perfect for a local coffee shop.
